World-famous drag superstar La Voix has teamed up with Barefoot Wine to entice the UK to express themselves in the workplace, and with 11 million British men admitting to skirt envy an exciting commute is to be had on 10 September
How would you like to hang up your dull office wear and live by the sacred words of Madonna?
Following new research from the UK, that saw over 70% of British people admitting they feel obliged by society to wear clothes they don’t feel comfortable in, Barefoot Wine has decided to take a stand and launch ‘National Wear What You Want Day’ on 10 September.
Inspired by the LGBT community, which Barefoot Wine has supported for almost 30 years, the day will encourage the UK to be brave and express their inner selves through their clothes – and increase their work productivity in the process.
Speaking about the research, Jo Hemmings, Behavioural Psychologist, says: “I think it’s fantastic that ‘National Wear What You Want Day’ has been launched to support Brits in embracing who they truly are through what they wear, as the research showed that freedom of expression through clothes is key to unlocking happiness.”
Semi-finalist of Britain’s Got Talent and face of the campaign, internationally renowned drag artist La Voix commented: “Whatever the nation chooses to wear, I am certain that this day will be a huge success. I’m delighted to be teaming up with Barefoot Wine and hope the work we have done inspires everyone across the country to dress in whatever they want come September 10th.”
So if you’re on one of the 23% of British men who have considered wearing heels to work to boost confidence, or one of the 66% who believe its unfair that women can wear skirts whilst its socially unacceptable for them, this is the day for you.
And ladies, 83% of you would like to see a culture change that sees everyone feeling free to wear what they want – so get creative with your outfits, tell your office men and colleagues to be free and ‘werk’ it like there’s no tomorrow!
To encourage the nation to wear what they want this month, and celebrate the launch of the new national day, an interactive fancy dress box will be travelling to London on Thursday 10th September and Birmingham on Friday 11th September.
Try on the clothes you have always wanted to wear and share your images on Twitter using #WearingNotCaring, whilst enjoying a glass of Barefoot Wine and raising a toast to inclusivity!
