A rainbow of colour is set to wind its way through the streets as Leeds prepares to celebrate with pride.

Thousands of people are expected to descend on the city centre for the annual Leeds Pride extravaganza.

And headlining the bill will be Dancing on Ice champion and stage star Ray Quinn who is set to perform in Millennium Square on Sunday afternoon.

Joining the fun will be Livin’Joy, Kym Mazelle, Angie Brown, Soraya, Eva Iglesias, Sam Solace, Kelly Wilde and Hatty Keane.

Britain’s Got Talent 2015 Golden Buzzer semi finalist Lorraine Bowen will also perform on the main stage.

Organisers said last year’s event saw hotel rooms across the city centre sell out.

A statement on the event’s official website said: “This will be the ninth year the annual celebration of diversity and acceptance has taken place in Leeds.

“Last year saw a record turn out with over 30,000 people attending during the day.

“Over the past four years, Leeds Pride has evolved to become the biggest annual one day festival in the city centre.

“This undoubtedly makes a huge contribution to the local economy with thousands of people choosing to visit the city on Leeds Pride weekend.

“Last year, on the evening before Pride – every hotel in the city centre was fully booked.”

Thousands of carnival-goers will parade down to The Headrow to the heart of the city’s gay quarter on Lower Briggate from 2pm.

The event will mark its ninth birthday in Leeds.

It was officially launched nine years ago with just 200 supporters standing on the steps of the Civic Hall.

The Leeds Marriott Hotel has employed a fabulous Drag Queen to take the role of concierge over Pride, helping guests make the most of the day.

Renowned Drag Queen, Anna Phylatic, will be helping the hotel team check-in guests, show them to their rooms and most importantly give hints, tips and insider knowledge on the event.

Anna said: “I know the who, where and what for all the events and my new job gives me the opportunity to share this insider knowledge.”
