The Community Games (5th – 6th July 2014)

The Community Games is a national initiative to continue the London 2012 legacy in local communities by providing sporting/cultural activities for the local residents.

The St James’ Park Community Games is being held on July 5th and 6th @ St James’ Park, Shirley, Southampton. The Community Games will be hosting an opening and closing ceremony with Olympic diver Peter Waterfield making an appearance in the opening ceremony and Team GB Wheechair rugby star Aaron Phipps making an appearance at the closing ceremony. Both ceremonies will also include local people performing and speaking.

On July 5th the Games will be running from 12 – 6 and on July 6th from 11 – 3.

Both days we’ll be offering a variety of sports/activities including; Boccia, Dodgeball, Handball, Athletics, a family Fun Run and a visually impaired maze. Every sport has been planned for full inclusion.

We’re looking for volunteers on both days to assist and supervise with sporting activities, litter patrol, handing out fliers and to help with general ongoings at the event.
