TRAINING TARGETS YOUNG

Age UK LogoA TRAINING provider is launching a new programme this summer.

Age UK Training is launching a new range of Step Into training programmes in August. All the programmes are aimed at getting local people, of all ages from 16, into a better position to secure work.

The Skills Academy gives young people, aged 16 to 18, the opportunity to Step Into a career with training and support in work-related courses such as business and administration, childcare, customer service, health and social care, retail and warehousing. Each programme is personalised to meet the individual student’s requirements and includes an introduction to the various roles within each sector, a quality work placement, a recognised qualification and maths and English support up to GCSE level if appropriate. The progression from the Step Into Programme at The Skills Academy is on to a traineeship, an apprenticeship or permanent employment.

The Skills Academy is located at Unit 49 Trinity Enterprise Centre in the courtyard opposite Furness College – for more information, you can call 01229 811530.

Age UK Training also offers an Employability Skills Programme for anyone aged over 19.

The programme is government-funded and over the duration of the programme, the student will gain a City & Guilds Employability qualification, will work towards improving their English, maths and IT skills, receive support with job searches and complete a work placement taster and vocational qualification in preparation for securing employment.

Age UK Training also offers traineeships for 19 to 24 year olds. Traineeships are a priority to support young people and develop skills.
