A gender equality technical committee held its first meeting on Thursday, which took place in a “very good climate,” Greek Cypriot head of the committee Xenia Loizidou told the Cyprus News Agency.
The negotiators of the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot sides, Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami respectively, were also present at the meeting.
“It was a good first meeting, some priorities were put down and it was decided that the next meeting will take place on Wednesday,” August 12, Loizidou said.
She added that the meeting took place in a “very good climate” and in a spirit of cooperation.
The committee’s establishment was decided by the leaders of the two communities in May because the Cyprus problem can only be properly solved with due understanding of the perspectives of both women and men.
