Lloyds Banking Group has launched a nationwide programme to help reintegrate senior men and women back into the workplace.
The returners programme, which is aimed at those who have been out of the workplace for two years or more, offers roles with Lloyds at its offices in Halifax, London, Edinburgh and Manchester. A third of the roles are located outside of London.
The scheme supports ten women and five men in client-facing, management and delivery roles.
The returners programme focuses on agile working, with a number of new positions being undertaken by ‘returners’ on reduced and flexible hours.
After the 15 ‘returners’ complete an initial ten-week placement, there is the possibility of a permanent position.
The programme also supports Lloyds Banking Group’s vision to build a workforce that reflects its customer base.
In 2014, Lloyds Banking Group made a public commitment in its Helping Britain Prosper Plan to having 40% of roles filled by women by 2020, and this new initiative is designed in part to enable senior female talent into the business.
Fiona Cannon OBE, director of diversity and inclusion at Lloyds Banking Group, said: “We are delighted to launch our returners programme, which reaches beyond just London to give senior people a structured route back into the workplace.
“We believe that diversity and inclusion brings about richness of thought and better business decisions, and it is important that we reflect the whole of the country as an organisation.
“Many men and women across the UK take time from work during their career, and this programme is designed to re-connect with a wealth of talent.”
