The winners of the Department of Education and Training’s One Team One Goal: Celebrating Diversity Competition have been announced.
The Competition, which challenges students to creatively demonstrate their understanding of cultural diversity, received more than 100 entries from across Victoria in the form of videos, visuals and radio commercials.
According to the Department, Brunswick Secondary College took out the whole school category for their demonstration of strong commitment to intercultural understanding in their school community.
It said St Peter & Paul’s Primary School had won the primary category for their video featuring students from different cultures working together on and off the football field.
Point Cook Senior Secondary College’s Leanne Lim won the secondary category with her drawing of two hands holding a football.
She said the design represented the power that sport had to tie people together regardless of their background.
The Department said the schools and students had shared in prizes that included a $2,500 schools grant, special-edition footballs and tickets to Australian Football League (AFL) games during the Multicultural Football Round.
The Competition, run in partnership with AFL Victoria, gave students an opportunity to combine their creativity with their love of football to produce a positive cultural message.
